DALY CITY, Calif. – Brooke Henderson will tee it up in the final pairing Saturday at the Swinging Skirts Classic with eight-time LPGA winner Na Yeon Choi and 23-time Japan LPGA winner Sakura Yokomine.
Henderson, 17, takes a two-shot lead into the weekend in her bid to join Lydia Ko and Lexi Thompson as the only players to win LPGA events before their 18th birthdays.
Henderson, Choi and Yokomine are scheduled to go off at 4:05 p.m. ET.
“Definitely will be a new experience,” Henderson said. “First final group. Really exciting, looking forward to being able to learn from it and see what happens.”
Henderson, from Smith Falls, Ontario, Canada, turned pro in December as the top-ranked amateur in the world. She was runner-up in the U.S. Women’s Amateur last year and tied for 10th as low amateur at the U.S. Women’s Open. She is playing on a sponsor’s exemption.
A victory wouldn’t just come with a giant payday ($300,000). It would come with a two-year exemption as an LPGA member. As a 17-year-old, however, Henderson would not be able to claim it without the LPGA waiving its rule requiring members to be at least 18.
