PARAMUS, N.J. – Morgan Hoffmann is staying in his old childhood bedroom this week, the one with his old posters and Walker Cup photos still on the walls.

He’s also driven to Ridgewood Country Club each day accompanied by his mother, gotten together with high school friends nearby and slept in his old bed.

“It's so comfortable, I don't really care,” he said with a smile. “It's the same. My mom has kept it off‑limits, so it's good.”

Apparently the home-cooking is treating him well, as he posted a bogey-free 5-under 66 in the third round to make a steep climb up the leaderboard.

It’s a move he needed to make, coming into this week at 124th on the FedEx Cup points list.

“I've kind of played tentative on Tour and that's not really my style. I like to be aggressive, and it sometimes put me in good positions and sometimes it doesn't. But this week I'm just going out and having fun and being as aggressive as possible.”
