With her victory Saturday at the Coates Golf Championship, Ha Na Jang moved up in the intense battle to make the South Korean Olympic women’s golf team.

Jang climbed from No. 14 in the Rolex Women’s World Rankings to No. 9 this week, but, more importantly, she jumped over Amy Yang and In Gee Chun to move to No. 5 in the South Korean qualifying race. The top four Koreans among the top 15 in the world rankings as of July 11 will qualify for the Olympics. Only the top four are shown in the Olympic Women’s Rankings.

In the first two weeks of the LPGA season, there has already been major movement in South Korean qualifying. Last week, Hyo Joo Kim jumped over Yang and Chun to claim the No. 4 spot among South Koreans after Kim won the LPGA’s season-opening Pure Silk Bahamas Classic. There is likely to be a lot more movement with seven South Koreans among the top 11 in the Rolex World Rankings and 14 among the top 30.

The top 60 in the Olympic Women’s Rankings earn spots in the games. While there was movement within the top 60 this past week, there were no new names moving into the top 60.
