A. Jutanugarn, Henderson, Kerr grouped at Manulife

By Randall MellAugust 31, 2016, 9:36 pm

Ariya Jutanugarn is a featured attraction wherever she goes now, but she’s teaming with the top attraction at the Manulife LPGA Classic this week.

Jutanugarn and Canada’s Brooke Henderson are paired in the first two rounds of the event at Whistle Bear Golf Club in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada. That’s a little more than four hours from Henderson’s hometown of Smiths Falls. They will join Cristie Kerr in a threesome off Thursday at 12:59 p.m. ET.

Golf Channel is televising the first round from 3-6 p.m. ET

A strong contingent of Canadians came out to follow Henderson at the Canadian Pacific Women’s Open in Calgary last week. Another huge turnout is expected this week.

“It's so exciting to be back here really close to home,” Henderson said Wednesday. “Even last week, in Calgary, the crowds were amazing, the best I've ever played in front of. The support after I finished my rounds, it was this huge, huge line of autographs and photos. I took the time to see everybody and it was really, really cool . . . I'm excited to be back in this area and back home in Canada.”

Jutanugarn is seeking her sixth LPGA title this year. Henderson won her first major, the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, in June.

“I can’t wait to tee off tomorrow with Brooke Henderson,” Jutanugarn said. “I know we’re going to have fun.”

Rolex world No. 1 Lydia Ko is also in the field. She will also be in the Golf Channel telecast window Thursday, teeing off at 1:10 p.m. with Stacy Lewis and defending champion Suzann Pettersen.

Storms halt Barbasol before Lincicome tees off

By Associated PressJuly 20, 2018, 11:29 pm

NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. - Brittany Lincicome will have to wait until the weekend to resume her bid to make the cut in a PGA Tour event.

Overnight storms delayed the start of the second round Friday in the Barbasol Championship, and an afternoon thunderstorm suspended competition for good. The round will resume Saturday morning with much of the field still to play.

The second stoppage at Champions Trace at Keene Trace Golf Club came 20 minutes before Lincicome's scheduled tee time.

Lincicome was near the bottom of the field after opening with a 6-over 78 on Thursday. The first LPGA player since Michelle Wie in 2008 to start a PGA Tour event, she needs a huge rebound to join Babe Zaharias (1945) as the only female players to make the cut.

Troy Merritt had the clubhouse lead at 15 under, following an opening 62 with a 67.
