Boys and girls will play with each other and against each other for the first time in an American Junior Golf Association event this summer with Stacy Lewis hosting the tournament.

A field of 64 players, half of them boys and half of them girls, will compete in the KPMG Stacy Lewis Junior All Star Invitational at Blessings Golf Club in Johnson, Arkansas, June 22-25.

Boys and girls will be paired with each other in a 54-hole event that will crown a boys’ champion as well as a girls’ champion while also pitting boys and girls against each other in a team competition. The top eight boys’ cumulative scores and the top eight girls’ cumulative scores will determine the team champion.

“I am excited about how this format will not only help to spark new friendships, but will also encourage the development of a healthy gender-blind respect for each other as fellow competitors,” Lewis said in an AJGA news release.

Blessings Golf Club is the home course for the men’s and women’s golf teams at the University of Arkansas, where Lewis was a four-time All-American and NCAA champion. Proceeds from the event will benefit a KPMG-Stacy Lewis women’s finance and accounting internship endowment allowing a female college student to gain work experience at the AJGA before graduation. Lewis was a finance and accounting major at Arkansas.
