DALY CITY, Calif. – Lexi Thompson stacked up some serious overnight mileage to tee it up at the Swinging Skirts Classic Thursday at Lake Merced Golf Club.

Thompson joined her older brothers, Nicholas and Curtis, in the PGA Tour’s Zurich Classic pro-am in New Orleans Wednesday and then flew to San Francisco Wednesday night to make her Thursday tee time here.

Thompson was a special guest at the Zurich Classic after signing a new endorsement deal with the title sponsor. With Nicholas a PGA Tour member, and with Curtis a Tour pro and former LSU Tiger playing on a sponsor’s exemption, the Thompson siblings got to spend some bonus time together in New Orleans. Lexi also did a junior clinic.

“It’s kind of crazy,” Lexi said of making the cross-country trek. She’s making her first appearance in this LPGA event. It won’t, however, be the first time she’s seeing Lake Merced. In anticipation of this travel challenge, she stopped at course on her way to the ANA Inspiration media day two months ago and played it. Her caddie arrived early this week to scout.

“We’ll see,” Thompson said of the challenge. “But I feel really good about my game. We’ll see where it goes.”

The Thompsons remain very close. They used to play a lot of golf together with their home on the course at Eagle Trace Golf Club in Coral Springs, Fla. Curtis called their competitions “Battle Royale.” He said they remain competitive today.

“The competition with anything is still there, whether it’s golf, pingpong, bowling,” Curtis said. “My brother and I play Trivia Crack. It ruins your day if you lose, no matter what it is. The competition is unbelievable.”
