Davis Love III is not in the field for this week’s Valero Texas Open, but he will have an eventful weekend nonetheless.
Love’s daughter, Lexie, is getting married this weekend at the family’s St. Simons Island, Ga., house.
“We’re doing it in the backyard in the same tent as the McGladrey Classic pro-am draw party,” Love smiled. “We’re very excited. It’s hard to believe.”
Love, who turns 50 next month, tied for 26th last week at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, his best finish of the season, and he is scheduled to play next week’s Shell Houston Open to make one final push in his attempt to qualify for the Masters.
“I might have (played the Texas Open),” he said. “I’m trying to win to get into the Masters, so I might have played because I’m playing better and better, but it’s going to be a great weekend.”
