Trey Mullinax has a total of one start on the Tour in his young career. On Thursday, the first-year professional will take another step forward when he sets out for his first round on the PGA Tour.

Mullinax was one of four players who earned a spot in this week’s Sony Open via Monday’s 18-hole qualifier, and he’ll have a familiar face on his bag when he makes his Tour debut.

Mullinax’s father, Chip, will caddie for him at Waialae Country Club.

Curtis Thompson, Roger Sloan and Tom Johnson also qualified for the year’s first full-field event on Monday in Hawaii.

Mullinax has conditional status on the Tour this season, and he plans to begin his year at the Panama Championship in March.
