DORAL, Fla. – Officials unveiled the field for next Tuesday’s, March 8, test event to be played at the Olympic golf course in Brazil this week.
The nine-player field, five men and four women, includes only Brazilian players and just one player, Miriam Nagl, who is currently qualified for this summer’s Games (Adilson da Silva is currently qualified to represent Brazil in the men’s competition).
Rodrigo Lee, Rafael Barcellos, Alexandre Rocha, Rafael Becker and Daniel Stapff will be joined by Nagl, Victória Lovelady, Candy Hannemann and Luciane Lee for the one-day event.
Olympic golf course architect Gil Hanse is also scheduled to be in Rio for the test event that is designed to give officials a chance to see how the course plays prior to the Games in August.
Officials initially hoped to have players who were likely to play in this year’s Olympics participate in the test event, but scheduling demands kept most top players from making the trip down to Brazil.
