Rolex world No. 1 Lydia Ko admires NBA star Stephen Curry, but we learned Wednesday that the admiration is mutual.

Ko met Curry during a Golden State Warriors practice in Oakland, Calif., as part of her visit promoting next month’s Swinging Skirts Classic in San Francisco. Ko will be seeking to win the event for a third consecutive time.

“She’s so grounded,” Curry was quoted saying in the San Francisco Chronicle. “I know she’s a big fan of basketball and what we’re doing here, but that’s the No. 1 golfer in the world. So just kind of seeing her attitude and temperament around this setting is pretty refreshing.”

Ko brought her golf clubs, and Curry, who is an avid player, checked them out.

“I watch golf religiously, so now having met her, I’ll follow her career even closer,” Curry said. “That excellence is very inspiring.”

Ko asked Curry to sign a basketball for her sister, Sura. In return, Curry asked Ko to sign a golf ball for him.

“I’ll keep this for a long time,” Curry said.

Ko and Curry both took turns putting across the 94-foot hardwood floor at the practice facility.

“It almost feels like a Donald Ross green,” Ko said. “It breaks right, it breaks left, and either way, you miss it.”
