TROON, Scotland – Justin Rose woke up early ahead of his 9:03 a.m. tee time on Thursday and was confused.
“I thought all the lights were on in the house when I woke up,” he said. “I realized it's actually the sunshine.”
That likely won’t be an issue on Friday.
Day 1 of the 145th Open was gorgeous, with lots of sun, temperatures in the low- to mid-60s, little wind and no rain.
Friday’s forecast, according to Open officials, calls for similar temperatures and that’s where the similarities ends.
From the first tee time, at 6:35 a.m. local time (1:35 a.m. ET) to noon: A wet morning with rain developing, heavy and persistent at times, especially during the mid- to late-morning. Around 10mm (four-tenths of an inch) most likely.
The rain will likely slack in the afternoon, but that’s when the winds will stiffen, strengthening to 15-20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.
