ORLANDO, Fla – Ian Poulter has committed to next week’s Puerto Rico Open, but he could still wind up in Austin, Texas.

Poulter, No. 67 in the Official World Golf Ranking, is the first alternate for this week’s WGC-Dell Match Play. Thanks to the injured Jim Furyk and sitting Henrik Stenson, No. 65 Patton Kizzire and No. 66 Thorbjorn Olesen are in the 64-man field.

Poulter is the odd man out and would be the next man up. The five-day Match Play starts Wednesday, while the Puerto Rico Open begins Thursday.

Asked about his impending travel schedule following his final-round 71 at Bay Hill on Sunday, Poulter simply said that he had “no idea” and declined further comment.

Two hours later, he took to Twitter to update his status:

Poulter has participated in the Match Play every year since 2004, making the semifinals three times and winning in 2010.
