PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas – Brittany Lang says there’s just one difference playing the LPGA now that she’s married.

“I’m happier,” Lang said.

Lang, who married Kevin Spann in the off season, looked sharp in the season-opening Pure Silk Bahamas Classic, posting a 4-under-par 69 to get into early contention.

Lang, 28, is among a hand full of top American players whose personal lives took significant turns this past off season. Natalie Gulbis got married, Paula Creamer became engaged and Cristie Kerr became a mother. Last year, Morgan Pressel got married.

“It seems like we’ve been going to a lot of weddings in the offseason the last couple years,” Lang said.

Lang’s engagement went viral after Spann proposed to her as she was walking off the ninth green at the end of the third round of the North Texas Shootout last year. He took a knee with Golf Channel cameras rolling and asked if he could watch her play golf the rest of their lives. Lang says she’s looking forward to eventually starting a family.

“I think it’s good for your golf game,” Lang said of marriage. “Because you realize golf is a game, and there are more important things in life.”
