Marc Leishman’s Masters status is in jeopardy after his wife was admitted to a hospital with pneumonia.
Leishman’s wife, Audrey, originally thought she had the flu, but was instead taken to a Virginia Beach hospital where she was placed in a medically induced coma as she underwent further treatment, according to a report by the Australian Associated Press.
In a statement to the AAP, Leishman said, “Our family appreciates everyone’s thoughts and concerns. We ask that everyone respect our privacy through this difficult period. Please keep Audrey in your prayers.”
Leishman, who won the 2012 Travelers Championship, tied for fourth at the 2013 Masters. He missed the cut in his other two appearances.
The Masters field is currently at 98 players, after Tim Clark withdrew Wednesday. If Leishman were to miss the event, he would not be replaced in the field.
