PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – Brandt Snedeker played his way to victory last year at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am and directly onto the DL with a rib injury.

For Snedeker, who has endured an assortment of ailments throughout his career, it was an all-to-familiar feeling and when he returned to Pebble Beach this year. He at least was sustained by the fact that he’s played four of the first five events of 2014 and remains upright.

“I cannot wait to have a press conference where we don’t talk about my health,” Snedeker said on Wednesday. “I realize I have to go through a stretch where I’m actually healthy so I can avoid those questions.”

It didn’t help that Snedeker bruised the tibia in his left knee last year while riding a Segway during a corporate outing in China. But that setback did force him to dial down his offseason regimen.

The challenge now is regaining the confidence he had when he won last year’s National Pro-Am, his fourth top-3 finish in his first five events.

“There’s a lot of uncertainties as to how your body’s going to feel, how your game’s going to feel,” he said. “It was tough getting that confidence I had at the beginning of the year.”
