Spieth installed as early Masters favorite

Jordan Spieth came up short at the PGA Championship, but he left Whistling Straits as the new world No. 1 and can now take solace in the fact that he is the betting favorite to go back-to-back at the Masters in April.

With 233 days until the first round at Augusta National, Jeff Sherman of the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook has already compiled his list of odds for the first major of 2016. Topping Sherman's list is Spieth at 5-1, followed by world No. 2 Rory McIlroy, who will have a second crack at completing the career Grand Slam next spring.

Fresh off his major breakthrough, Jason Day is listed at 10-1, while Dustin Johnson and two-time Masters champ Bubba Watson each begin with 15-1 odds. Four-time winner Tiger Woods comes in at 25-1, while Phil Mickelson is among a group at 30-1 and Tom Watson is listed at 1,000-1 in what will be his final Masters appearance.

With the caveat that these odds are sure to change before the first utterance of "Fore please, now driving," here is a look at how the (potential) field stacks up:
