AUGUSTA, Ga. – Win a major at 21 years old, vault to No. 2 in the Official World Golf Ranking and all of a sudden there is an expectation that there will be a budding rivalry with Rory McIlroy, the top-ranked player in the world.

It’s inevitable, especially when it’s the first time in history that the top two-ranked players in the world are both 25 years old or younger.

Spieth is excited about the challenge, but freely admits he has a long way to go before he’s in McIlroy’s territory.

“He’s got four majors,” Spieth said. “That’s something I can still only dream about. I’ll never hit it as far as he does and I have to make up for that somewhere else. He’s an unbelievably nice guy. Carries that world No. 1 with class.

“I don’t know, as far as a rivalry right now. Look forward to getting in the heat of the moment with him a couple times in the near future and see if we can battle it out and test our games.”
