Kevin Stadler remains on top of the leaderboard after three rounds at Le Golf National. Here's how things look heading into the final round:
Leaderboard: Kevin Stadler (-9), Victor Riu (-5), Thongchai Jaidee (-5), Martin Kaymer (-3), Matthew Baldwin (-2), Bernd Wiesberger (-2)
What it means: After winning earlier this year at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, Stadler is in the driver's seat to add the French Open to his trophy collection. While most of his challengers were struggling Saturday, Stadler shot a 1-over 72 to increase his lead to four strokes.
Round of the day: Jaidee was one of the few players to shoot under par in the third round. Jaidee made four birdies against two bogeys to move up into a tie for second place.
Best of the rest: After winning the U.S. Open at Pinehurst, Kaymer missed the cut last week at the BMW, but he's rebounded nicely at the French Open. Kaymer shot a 1-under 70 Saturday, and while still six shots back, there are only two players between Kaymer and Stadler.
Biggest disappointment: Pretty much any big-name player chasing Stadler in the third round. Marcel Siem (77), Jamie Donaldson (74), Stephen Gallacher (74) and Graeme McDowell (73) all failed to make a move on Stadler's lead.
Main storyline heading into Sunday: All eyes will be on Stadler to see if he can capture his second career European Tour title. But watch out for Kaymer. He's already captured two big titles this year, and he certainly knows a thing or two about closing out tournaments on tough golf courses.
