Henrik Stenson has withdrawn from this week’s Shell Houston Open after coming down with the flu. He was replaced in the field by Cameron Percy.
The world No. 2 tweeted Monday that the illness has also forced him to cancel a last-minute recon trip to Augusta National in advance of next week’s Masters. He said that he hopes to be “up and running” by next week.
Stenson has played the Houston stop each of the past three years. It was supposed to be his final tune-up for the Masters, after he blew the 54-hole lead at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. He has three consecutive top-5 finishes on the PGA Tour.
