Henrik Stenson and Ian Poulter decided to make the Race to Dubai’s Final Series a little more interesting.

They’re tied for the lead through two rounds at the Turkish Airlines Open, but there is more at stake than a first-place check.

With Poulter warning Stenson last month that he was going to chase him down in the Race to Dubai standings, they decided to make a little side wager going into the Final Series.

Stenson leads the Race to Dubai standings with 2,203,260 euros. Poulter is fourth, 542,524 euros behind Stenson.

Stenson, confident in his big lead, offered up 10/1 odds on a bet proposed by Poulter over who would win the Race to Dubai. Poulter put up $100 against Stenson’s $1,000.

“I like to make these silly things, and he said he’d like to take the bet on,” Poulter told media Friday after his round. “I also said that if I do manage to pass you, we will have a nice night out, and he will have to pour my drinks for the evening. I think 1,000 bucks isn’t an issue to him but pouring my drinks all night might be a big problem.”

Stenson is making his Race to Dubai run despite an injured right wrist.

“If he catches me, I can only pour them with my left, so he’s going to have to hold the glass himself,” Stenson said. “I can’t go full-out with my practice. Even if I wanted to hit balls after the round it’s not going to happen.”
