Brandon Stone, Alex Noren, Callum Shinkwin and Richard Sterne all qualified for The Open via top-12 finishes at the European Tour's Open de France.

Stone was the highest finisher of the quartet in Paris, tying for fifth. It marked the continuation of a good week for Stone, a 23-year-old from South Africa who days ago moved into position for an Olympic berth following the withdrawal of countryman Branden Grace. Stone was briefly a teammate of Jordan Spieth at Texas before turning pro in 2013, and he earned his first professional win earlier this year at the BMW SA Open.

Noren finished alone in eighth, eight shots behind Thongchai Jaidee. The Swede will make his sixth Open appearance, but first since 2013 when he withdrew during the first round because of a wrist injury.

Shinkwin, a 23-year-old Englishman, will be making his first major start after a T-9 finish while Sterne tied for 11th and will now make his eighth Open appearance since 2006.

One spot for Royal Troon will go to the highest finisher not already qualified Sunday at the Barracuda Championship, while four more spots will be available to top finishers next week at the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open.

The Open will be July 14-17 in Ayrshire, Scotland.
