John Daly on Thursday at the Senior PGA Championship signed for a quintuple-bogey nine. Daly made the score on the par-4 16th hole at Harbor Shores Golf Club, his seventh of the day.
As you'll hear Mark Rolfing explain in the video below, Daly hit his first ball into the hazard, before re-teeing and finding the tall stuff left of the fairway, from which he tried to play his fourth shot. He unraveled from there:
It was the end of a five-hole stretch that saw Daly go birdie-bogey-birdie-bogey-quintuple bogey on Nos. 12-16 on his way to a first-nine 40.
The typically volatile Daly stayed true to that nature on his second nine, making four birdies, two bogeys and a double to finally sign for a round of 4-over 75, which has him 13 shots behind leader Rocco Mediate after one round.
