CHASKA, Minn. – Ryan Moore learned he was changing his travel plans about an hour after he’d lost a playoff to Rory McIlroy on Sunday at the Tour Championship.

U.S. Ryder Cup captain Davis Love III called Moore about 7:30 p.m. (ET) on Sunday to inform him he was the final pick for this year’s matches. It has been quite an odyssey for Moore since.

Moore flew home to Las Vegas on Sunday from Atlanta, landing about 11 p.m. He said he woke up at 4:30 a.m. to catch a 9:30 a.m. flight to Minnesota for this week’s matches.

“I could have slept in a little longer, but I couldn’t sleep,” he said.

Moore hadn’t been fitted for his team uniform before this week and spent Monday afternoon going through that process, and on Tuesday he played a practice round with Brandt Snedeker, Brooks Koepka and J.B. Holmes.

“This is all very, very new to me,” Moore said. “I've never been on any of these teams. But still until you've experienced it, there's nothing quite like it. But I've gotten great advice from guys on how to treat the week and how to go about it.”
