DUBAI, United Arab Emirates – He’s hitting the ball better, putting better and said he has no lingering doubts following his Saturday 79 at the Farmers Insurance Open that resulted in his first missed 54-hole cut on the PGA Tour.

All interesting stuff from Tiger Woods on the eve of the opening round at the Dubai Desert Classic, but the most intriguing thing to come out of the world No. 1’s press conference at Emirates Golf Club was that he will be rooting for the Denver Broncos during Sunday’s Super Bowl.

“I like the Broncos. I’m good friends with Peyton (Manning),” he said. “Let’s be honest, he got scrutinized pretty hard when he left (the Colts) that he would never be the same after his neck surgery, and it’s right, he’s not the same; he’s better. That’s cool to see. That’s cool to see the hard work that he put in to shut everybody up.”

It should be noted that Woods is a fan of the Oakland Raiders, Denver's AFC West division rivals.
