British Amateur champion Garrick Porteous announced Monday that he has turned professional. He will be represented by Chubby Chandler’s International Sports Management agency.

The 24-year-old missed the cut at last week’s Masters after rounds of 76-80.

“It was a huge honor to play my final event as an amateur at the Masters, but I am so excited to finally be turning pro,” said Porteous, who was No. 7 in the R&A’s World Amateur Ranking.

Porteous was exempt into the year’s first two majors by virtue of his British Am win, but after turning pro he will no longer be eligible to play at Pinehurst.

The 2013 GB&I Walker Cupper, who played college golf at the University of Tennessee, will make his pro debut this week at the Maybank Malaysian Open.
