  • Tiger Woods vs. Phil Mickelson - 26%
  • Annika Sorenstam vs. Karrie Webb - 2%

Golf lends itself to great one-on-one battles, but thanks to the dominance of Tiger Woods and Annika Sorenstam in the 2000s a true, long-lasting rivalry never developed.

Instead, its team vs. team that got your vote for Best Rivalry of the Decade.

After the 1999 Ryder Cup, tensions were high and emotions strong. The 2001 edition was eagerly anticipated. Then came the events of 9-11 and the mood sombered in an instance. The Ryder Cup was pushed back to 2002 and an air of civility seemed to surface.

Not that the fire was completely quelled. Paul Casey made some comments about the U.S. [which were drastically overstated] and Europe won the 2004 and 2006 Cups by record margins [they also won easily in 2002].

It didn't seem like much of a rivalry, considering how one-sided the affair had become. But when the U.S. took care of business at Valhalla in 2008, the fire was once again stoked.

This rivavlry should only get better in the next decade.
