May 20, 1993 ' John Daly refuses to sign scorecard after opening 77 at Kemper Open near Washington, D.C., and is disqualified. Daly later tried apologizing to a PGA Tour official, but to no avail.
May 23, 2002 - Sam Snead dies in his hometown of Hot Springs, Va., of complications of pneumonia.
May 25, 1996 ' Bernhard Langers record streak of 68 consecutive European Tour events without missing a cut ends at the Volvo PGA Championship. Langer shot 73-74 to miss the cut by three strokes (144).
