Officials at Augusta National have announced an increase in their tournament series badges for the upcoming Masters Tournament in April.Though only the second rise in ticket prices in 11 years, it easily marks the biggest jump in the tournament's history. The $175 price is up from $125 in 2003, marking a 40 percent increase.
The cost of attending the Masters has more than doubled since 1989, when the price for a badge was just $85 dollars.
The tournament, started back in 1934, also saw prices jump for attending the practices rounds on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
The Monday and Tuesday prices went from $21 to $31, while the price of Wednesday tickets increased from $26 to $36. Wednesday is the day of the very popular par-3 contest between former champions and players in the current field.
