Calcavecchia Sidelined Following Surgery

Mark Calcavecchia will be out of action indefinitely after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery on Wednesday. A representative for Calcavecchia confirmed the procedure and said that doctors found more extensive damage than they had expected.

The 10-time PGA Tour winner was not entered in this week's Nissan Open but has been forced to withdraw from next week's Genuity Championship in Miami, Fl.
At last week's Bob Hope Chrysler Classic the 20-year veteran could be seen limping and in pain while on the course. On Saturday, he wore a knee brace for support. The knee trouble didn't seem to effect his game. Calc finished the week in third place shooting 64-66-69-65-66 for a five-day total of 30-under 330.
The 40-year old won the Phoenix Open earlier this month shooting a 28-under 256. The total broke a record held for 46 years by Mike Souchak for lowest 72-hole score.
Calcavecchia is currently fourth on the PGA Tour money list with $1,006,000.
