Ford Senior Adds New Category

DEARBORN, Mich. - The Ford Senior Players Championship has added a new eligibility category effective for the 2003 Championship that impacts players who have won a PGA Tour major championship and/or The Players Championship.

The new category grants eligibility to any player not otherwise eligible who turns 50 between the end of last year's Ford Senior Players Championship and this year's first date of eligibility for the Championship (July 9), and has won the The Players Championship, Masters, U.S. Open, British Open and/or PGA Championship. The player would be added to the current field of 78 players.
It is a one-time exemption. Craig Stadler, who turns 50 on June 2, meets this criteria for the 2003 Championship.
The 2003 Ford Senior Players Championship will be played July 7-13 at the Tournament Players Club of Michigan in Dearborn near Detroit..
