George Takes Office as Champions Tour President

Rick George officially assumed his role as Champions Tour president Wednesday. George was awarded the office in January, but waited to accept his duties until after the HP Classic of New Orleans. He had been the president and chief executive officer of Fore! Kids Foundation, the host organization and charity for last week's PGA Tour event.
As Champions Tour president, George will be responsible for all aspects of the 50-and-over circuit, including marketing, tournament operations, player relations and title sponsor relations.
'I couldn't be more excited about this tremendous new opportunity,' George said. 'It has been a great privilege to work with a dynamic team in New Orleans, and it's clear that I'm joining another great team on the Champions Tour. With the changes that have been made to enhance the presentation of the tour, combined with the steady stream of great players that will enter the Champions Tour over the next several years, we have a great opportunity to take this tour to an entirely new level.'
Before joining Fore! Kids in 1998, he was an associate athletic director at Vanderbilt University. The Illinois graduate was also on the athletic administrative staffs at his alma matter and Colorado.
