The network will show full coverage of the LPGA Takefuji Classic (April 15-17), LPGA Corning Classic (May 27-30), Evian Masters (July 21-24), Wachovia LPGA Classic Hosted by Betsy King (Aug. 26-29), John Q. Hammons Hotel Classic (Sept. 10-12) and Safeway Classic (Sept. 17-19).
The Golf Channel, which is available in more than half the U.S. television households, representing nearly 60 million subscribers, will also air the first two rounds of the McDonalds LPGA Championship (June 10-13), the tours second major of the season.
The LPGA Tour released its television schedule Thursday for their first 25 events of the year; 23 of which will be televised.
The LPGA has seen an increased viewership over the last three years. Network household viewership rose 26 percent from 2001 to 2003, and viewership for the coveted 25-54 demographic jumped 42 percent over the same period. For cable television viewership, the LPGA saw a 19-percent increase in overall viewership from 2001-03, with viewership in the 25-54 demographic increasing by 37 percent.
