LPGA Tour Heads to Naples

The LPGA Tour moves west across the state of Florida this week from Orlando to the Gulf Coast and the beautiful Club at the Strand for the Subaru Memorial of Naples.
Nancy Scranton defends this week. She won here last year in a playoff against Maria Hjorth, recording a par on the second hole, which gave her $127,500 and the first victory of her career since 1992.
The 39 year old will have to beat out some serious competition this week if she is to successfully defend, however. Last week's winner Se Ri Pak will be on hand, as will Grace Park, Lorie Kane, Pat Hurst and the always-dangerous Karrie Webb.
The week should prove interesting to see how Webb fares. After a banner season of 2000, which saw her win seven titles and nearly $2 million in earnings, the undisputed world No. 1 did not fare all that well at last week's season-opening YourLife Vitamins Classic.
Webb finished 3-over for the tournament and could not break 72 in any of her rounds.
Scranton, on the other hand, played well. She finished in a tie for tenth at 3-under-par, and is hoping to ride the wave of good golf down Interstate-4 to the course that she handled so masterfully last year.
