Magee Aces Par-4 at Phoenix Open

It didn't take long for Theater of the Bizarre to showcase itself at the Phoenix Open. Ignoring the old adage 'discretion is the better part of valor,' Andrew Magee drove his tee shot on the par-4 17th into the group on the green. His ball traveled the full 333 yards, caromed off Tom Byrum's putter and into the cup for a hole-in-one.
The unorthodox ace is believed to be the first on a par-4 in PGA Tour history; it vaulted Magee from 1-under to 4-under-par. The double eagle came just seconds after Steve Pate, who was in the same group with Byrum, converted an eagle putt from off the green.
Last year there were six double eagles on the PGA Tour, though all came on par-fives.
