Podlich Leads After 36-Holes at Victorian Open

First round leader David Podlich shot a four-under par 68 to remain in the lead at the Victorian Open in Melbourne, Australia. Podlich's 11-under par total is one shot better than Aussie Scott Gardiner.
'I had a wonderful day,' Podlich said. 'The weather was great, the course was fantastic - as they are when you play in Victoria - and that's why I really enjoy playing down here.
Podlich, last year's Jack Newton Classic winner, started strong by birdied the first hole but dropped back with bogies on seven and eight. The 30-year-old Aussie bounced back with birdies at the nine and 11, and a trio of birdies on the last three holes at the Cranbourne Golf Club.
American David Gossett shot a second round 69 and sits in a tie for third place with Euan Walters and Scott Laycock at nine-under.
Gossett birdied his first hole to move to seven-under, but a bogey at the fourth stopped his momentum. Four more birdies and just one more bogey kept him in the hunt going into the weekend.
