USA Crushes GBI to Regain Palmer Cup

The United States cruised past Great Britain & Ireland en route to regaining possession of the Palmer Cup.
The U.S. defeated GB&I 18-6 at Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, N.J. The Americans avenged a 12.5 to 11.5 defeat last year in Hoylake, England.
The home team led comfortably 6.5 to 1.5 after the Day-1 four-ball and foursome matches. They then clinched the cup in the morning 8 singles matches, winning seven and halving the other.
This was the 5th annual Palmer Cup, named in honor of Arnold Palmer. The U.S. leads the series 3-1-1. The two teams tied in 1998.
