May 12, 1985 ' Kathy Whitworth wins her 88th and final victory at the United Virginia Bank Classic. She is the all-time leader in wins ' Sam Snead holds the PGA Tour record with 82.
May 13, 1999 ' Gene Sarazen dies at age 97 from complications of pneumonia at Naples, Fla.
May 14, 1754 ' The rules of golf were adopted by the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews. These were the Leath rules;' which were in addition to the original 14 rules drawn up by the Honourable Company of Edinburg Golfers in 1744.

May 16, 1982 ' Kathy Whitworth sets the LPGA record with 83rd win, the Lady Michelob. She broke Mickey Wrights mark of 82. Whitworth would go on to win five more times, giving her 88 for her career.
