The award, decided by a panel of sports editors and broadcasters, is given annually to Canada's outstanding athlete by the Toronto Star.
Weir became the first Canadian to win a major on the PGA Tour when he captured the Masters in April.
The 33-year-old left-hander finished a career-best fifth on the tour's money list with earnings of $4.92 million in 21 tournaments. He won three events, another single-season high for the Canadian, and was a key player for the International team in the Presidents Cup.
