Wie Advances to Womens Am Publinks Semis

USGA logo - 100x41PALM COAST, Fla. (AP) -- Thirteen-year-old Michelle Wie beat U.S. Amateur champion Becky Lucidi on Saturday to advance to the semifinals of the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship.
Wie, of Honolulu, beat Lucidi, of Poway, Calif., 6 and 5 in the morning quarterfinal match and advanced to face Aimee Cho in the afternoon semifinal.
Cho, of Orlando, beat Hannah Jun of San Diego, 6 and 4. In other quarterfinal matches, Virada Nirapathpongporn, of Thailand, beat D'Rae Ward, of Weatherford, Texas, 4 and 3, and Beth Allen, of San Diego, defeated Tarah McNaughton, of Bradenton, Fla., 3 and 2.
The winner of semifinals advance to Sunday's 36-hole final at the 6,068-yard, par-72 Ocean Hammock Golf Club course.
Wie made pars on the third and fifth holes to take a 2-up lead, and won three straight holes starting at No. 7 to extend the lead to 5-up. She stretched her lead to 6-up at the 12th and closed out the match at No. 13.
