If you're like pretty much every other amateur golfer on the planet, being able to bomb it off the tee is the dream.
The yards you crave, however, aren't going to be generated in the takeaway.
But as Michael Breed, host of The Golf Fix, explains in this video, many golfers in an effort to hit the ball a long way with the driver whip the club away at the beginning of their swing and wind up creating issues for themselves.
What you actually want to do is the take club back slowly so that you can make a proper turn and then build speed gradually so that it's maximized at the ball.
If you can accomplish that goal, the yards you crave will come more easily.
