A few thoughts

A few things this week. First, this whole Ryder Cup meeting between Corey Pavin and Tiger Woods. Earlier this year Pavin said he was going to treat Tiger like any other player. Now, there’s a private meeting to reportedly gauge interest. Should I be confused?

Secondly, the Champions Tour is as stocked with stars as it has been in quite some time. So when it comes to majors, let’s find a way to get them all there. There’s no excuse to skip so let’s not give them any.

And, finally, hats off to Carl Pettersson. He didn’t give up after making the cut on the number and he didn’t give up after being 2 over through six on Sunday. Good example to all players and his victory was quite good, too.

“I’m not your typical Swede,” he said. “As you know, I don’t have a 28-inch waist and I don’t eat bananas at the turn.”

All true, and proof that you can raise your stock among golf stars with a few nice wins and a great quote.
