An all-day downpour Friday soaked Merion Golf Club, site of next week's U.S. Open, Comcast Sportsnet/ reported.

Of particular concern was the par-4 11th hole, where creek waters came close to seeping onto the green.

'Obviously we had a ton of rain, I think somewhere between 3 to 4 inches,' said George Forster, assistant golf profesional.

'The 11th hole, when it rains a lot, that's the place we worry about the most.

'We were out there this morning, helping grounds crew clean up. It was wet, but the green still seemed like it was pretty firm, which is a good thing.'
