SAN MARTIN, Calif. – Brad Fritsch shot 7-under 64 Friday to move into contention at the Open, but he won’t be able to win his first PGA Tour title this week.

Fritsch withdrew Saturday at CordeValle Golf Club because of a bulging disc in his back. He was at 5-under 137, six off the 36-hole lead. Fritsch was scheduled to go out with Vijay Singh and Jeff Overton at 11 a.m. PT.

Because of early-morning fog concerns, the Tour moved back tee times, and implemented threesomes and split tees. The final group is off at 11:50 a.m.
