Tiger Woods didn’t have the only notable media day this week.

Paula Creamer and Cristie Kerr made appearances as defending champs at the U.S. Women’s Open and Wegmans LPGA Championship media days.

Creamer intended to make a most spectacular entrance to the U.S. Women’s Open media day activities planned at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Col., on Tuesday. She was going to parachute onto the course to fulfill another lifelong dream of hers, but poor weather prevented it.

“I'm very bummed,” Creamer told media at the Broadmoor. “What a perfect place to do it. It was going to be tandem. I always said when I won my first major, I was going to skydive, but you can't beat Mother Nature. I'm still going to do it someday.”

Creamer told the gathering she remembers her breakthrough at Oakmont winning her first major every time she gets up for breakfast.

“My trophy sits on my kitchen table,” Creamer said.

Kerr has some special memories winning the LPGA Championship in a record 12-shot rout at Locust Hill in Rochester last year. Kerr told the media there this week that she’d love to try to top that feat this year.

“There is no one harder on themselves than me,” Kerr said. “I was born to be a competitor.”
