Matt Every leads the Sony Open in Hawaii by two strokes at the halfway mark. Every shot 6-under 64 to go clear by a pair over Carl Pettersson and Canadian David Hearn.

After a pair of early bogeys, Hearn made three birdies and an eagle to close the front nine and get back into contention. Pettersson has dropped just one shot over 36 holes.

Brendon de Jonge had the round of the day, carding 62 to go to 7 under, tied with veteran Pat Perez. Perez has been battling a bulging disc in his back, which is starting to flare up with walking the relatively flat host course.

Nine players were at 6 under, including Keegan Bradley, Bud Cauley, Sean O’Hair, Kyle Stanley and Charles Howell III.

Local favorite Tadd Fujikawa finished at 5 under, making the cut in this event for the first time since 2009. He is tied at the halfway mark with last week’s winner, Steve Stricker.
