NORTON, Mass. – When Phil Mickelson bolted TPC Boston on Sunday there were no guarantees the big southpaw would continue his experiment with the belly putter for Monday’s closing 18 at the Deutsche Bank Championship.
“I’m not sure what I’ll do at the start of next year, but my curiosity was very high, especially after not putting great last week,” Mickelson said following his third-round 63. “I may experiment some more with it tomorrow or Chicago, I may not, I’m just not sure.”
When Mickelson arrived at TPC Boston about two hours before his 12:15 p.m. (ET) tee time, however, he went directly to the putting green and began practicing with the belly putter.
With Lefty, there are no guarantees, but the belly putter seems likely to survive at least one more round.
