Fun in numbers with Frazar's first victory

To put Harrison Frazar’s overtime victory on Sunday in Memphis in context, his 354 starts without a Tour title is more outings than Dustin Johnson, Rickie Fowler, Rory McIlroy, Gary Woodland and Jason Day have . . . combined in their careers (305).

Or, perhaps a better measure of the soon-to-be 40-year-old’s career schneid is this statistical truth – neither Gene Sarazen (294), Byron Nelson (281) nor Ben Hogan (294) had that many starts on their way to the Hall of Fame.

Hogan once asked Gary McCord how many Tour victories he had, when McCord told the “Hawk” he’d been shutout in more than a decade on Tour Hogan deadpanned, “Why are you still playing?”

GolfTalkCentral is just glad the Hawk was never around to give Frazar a “motivational speech.”
