A pair of European Tour rookies completed impressive debuts on Sunday in the Africa Open.

Emiliano Grillo of Argentina advanced through all three stages of European Tour Q-school to earn his card at the tender age of 19, making him the third-youngest player with full status on the tour this season, behind Matteo Manassero and fellow Q-school grad Adrian Otaegui. Grillo took immediate advantage of his card, finishing T-10 at East London GC in South Africa.

The finish will drastically improve his world ranking of 1,168.

Tommy Fleetwood, a 20-year-old Englishman, led the order of merit on the European Challenge Tour last season, winning once and finishing runner-up twice. After a final round of 3-under 70, the world No. 133 finished 18th, though well back of winner and two-time defending champion Louis Oosthuizen.

The finish is not Fleetwood’s best on the European Tour, however. With his playing privileges secured last fall, the Englishman finished fifth at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in October.
