There were no shortage of reasons for U.S. Presidents Cup captain Fred Couples to pick Bill Haas with his final wild-card selection on Tuesday, the latter’s gritty performance at East Lake and $11.4 million haul on Sunday being the most obvious motivation.

But if Captain America was searching for more good karma heading into the November matches he may find it on Haas’ bag. According to the FedEx Cup champion’s manager, Haas’ normal caddie – his brother, Jay Jr. – is awaiting the birth of his first child in November and will not be able to attend the matches.

Haas’ manager, Allen Hobbs with Players Group Inc., said the player may replace his brother with Billy Harmon, his longtime swing coach and the brother of the late Dick Harmon, Couples’ former swing coach.

“Bill mentioned that he and Billy have discussed him caddying down in Australia, but I am not sure it has been confirmed,” Hobbs said via e-mail.
