BETHESDA, Md. – Rory McIlroy’s trip to Haiti last week might have helped him win the U.S. Open.

Chubby Chandler, McIlroy’s agent, said McIlroy’s trip to help UNICEF and Haiti’s impoverished children was that profound.

“Going to Haiti, that was massive,” Chandler said. “If you ever needed to put things in perspective, that’ll do it.”

Chandler said McIlroy was over the disappointment of his Masters’ collapse within a week, but the trip to Haiti reinforced priorities in McIlroy's life.

“Golf’s only a game,” McIlroy told Chandler upon his return.
